Download this schedule. Friday, April 27, 2007 Tubac Country Club VERITAS Science Workshop (By invitation only) 08.30 am to 05.30 pm. Presentations by VERITAS scientists and representatives of the other gamma-ray observatories and scientific experts. Exhibits from some major VERITAS vendors.
07.30 pm Public Lecture A Cosmic Mystery Soup Lawrence M. Krauss,Case Western Reserve University Dr. Krauss is Ambrose Swasey Professor of Physics and Astronomy, and the Director of the Center for Education and Research in Cosmology and Astrophysics at Case Western. His lecture will outline the revolution in astrophysics arising from the exploration of the high energy universe. Green Valley Recreation Center West, 1111 Via Arcoiris, Green Valley
Saturday, April 28 First Light Celebration (By invitation only) 10.00 am-2.00 pm. Tour of Whipple Observatory (optional) (Buses or vans will be available or you can drive yourself in the convoy. Space is limited on the vans/buses so prior booking is essential). Please bring a lunch.
3.00 - 4.30 pm. Tours and demonstrations at the VERITAS telescopes. In addition to a general orientation at the central trailer there will be displays/presentations at each of the four telescopes featuring the four Key Projects of VERITAS. There will also be exhibits from some of the major VERITAS vendors.
4.30 - 5.00 pm. Reception and Music at VERITAS site. 5.00 - 6.00 pm. First Light celebration: General description of VERITAS plus short speeches by visiting dignitaries and scientists.
6.00 - 7.30 pm. Mexican supper and Mariachi Music at the VERITAS site. 7.30 - 9.00 pm. Star Party on-site for those interested. Sunday, April 29 Open House 1.00 - 4.30 pm. VERITAS "Open House" for general public. VERITAS scientists will be on hand to explain the workings of the telescopes to members of the public.
