The Project Office will consist of the following positions.
- Project Scientist:
- The Project Scientist will report directly to the VEC and will be
responsible for ensuring that their policies are followed and their
instructions are carried out. He/she will be responsible for the
Project Office and will act as Spokesperson for the project.
- Project Manager:
- The Project Manager will report to the Project Scientist and will
manage the Project Office. He/she will provide project management for
the total project. He/she will monitor all Sub-projects and assist in
their fiscal planning and scheduling; problems (fiscal and schedule)
will be identified, and solutions evaluated and implemented. Annual
agency funding to the various collaborating institutions will be
recommended based on discussions with Group Coordinators and on the
present status and future projections of each Sub-project. Overall
spending will be monitored and project costs will be controlled.
Cost-to-complete analyses will be done yearly. The Project Manager
will serve on the vendor selection committee of all major
procurements. He/she will coordinate the involvement of off-site
service organizations at the parent organizations.
- Assistant Project Manager:
- He/she will provide assistance to the Project Manager and act as
Project Manager during his/her absence. He/she reports to the Project
Manager.
- Project Engineer:
- The Project Engineer will provide project engineering and system
engineering for the project. He/she reports to the Project
Manager. He/she will have special responsibility for quality control,
system engineering, task interfacing, and site coordination.
- Administrative Assistant:
- This person will maintain the project schedule and WBS.
